ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Zae Sellers (Women’s Basketball)

Point guard Zae Sellers continued her impressive season in the playoffs on Saturday. She went 10-of-22 from the field for a game-high 29 points as well as registering six rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 79-62 playoff victory over Mohawk College at home.

The veteran was very impressive in the fourth quarter when the team needed her most. She accounted for 12 of the team’s 24 points in the frame to punch the Huskies’ ticket to the quarter-finals of the OCAA Provincial Championship at St. Clair College this week.

Chris Fields (Men’s Basketball)

Chris Fields was the perfect spark plug off the bench for the Huskies. He posted 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals to help the Huskies win the crossover playoff game 91-80 over Niagara College on Saturday afternoon.

The guard saw the floor for the first time around 90 seconds into the game and made an immediate impact. He recorded two steals in 15 seconds, which sparked a 14-5 run for the Huskies in the first quarter. He did something very similar for George Brown in the final quarter. Fields came off the bench at the beginning of the fourth with Niagara College only trailing 60-53. He recorded five of his 11 fourth-quarter points in the first 30 seconds of the frame, which started a 14-6 run to put the game out of reach for George Brown.

Thanks to the victory, the Huskies are in the quarter-finals of the OCAA Provincial Championship this week.
