ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Men's soccer forward Yonis Jama and women's soccer goalkeeper Sydney Crowe have been named Huskies athletes of the week for the period ending October 25th.

Jama played his best game for the Huskies. Against the CCAA No. 10 Fanshawe Falcons, who came into the match allowing zero goals the entire season, Jama was able to find the back of the net twice in a 3-2 quarterfinal victory. The forward opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the match, but his second goal was simply spectacular. With the score tied up at 2-2 in the 118th minute, he launched an absolute mission from 30 yards and sniped top corner to push the Huskies to the semifinals for the first time since 2016.

Crowe almost single-handedly took down the CCAA No.11 Fanshawe Falcons in the quarterfinals. The first-year goalkeeper made a career-high 14 saves, many of which were spectacular, however, the Huskies dropped a narrow 1-0 decision in extra time. Fanshawe came in averaging just under seven goals per match, and the one goal Crowe allowed went off a defender before going in. She was a key asset for putting the Huskies in a position to possibly upset the Falcons.
