Huyen Le capped off her historic season winning the gold medal in Women’s Singles at the CCAA National Badminton Championships at UTM. Le's gold medal performance was only the second time the Huskies have won a National Championship banner in the program's 50 plus year history.
The first-year standout took down the 2020 CCAA Women’s Badminton Player of the Year, Takeisha Wang in a three-set nail-biter. It marked the only time Le lost a set to an opponent the entire season.
The Vietnam native won all five of her round-robin matches to earn the top seed heading into playoffs. She bounced Olds College’s Priyanna Ramdhani in the semi-finals to advance and eventually take home gold. Le finished off her campaign going undefeated and only dropping one game in the process.
