Basketball host first home game of season against Sting

The Men's and Women's Basketball teams opened the 2019/20 season on a winning note, both defeating Centennial College on the road. They will now return home to take on the Seneca Sting this Wednesday.

The Women's team hope to improve on their 1-0 record by turning to their hot hands in second-year players Victoria Lawrence (21 PTS vs CEN) and Ciara Findlayter-Stephenson (19 PTS vs CEN). The Huskies took the season series against the Sting last year, going 2-0 in the home-and-home. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Sting are coming off a 68-59 loss to UTM and currently sit 0-1 on the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 6PM.

The Men's team will look to third-year guard Haany Ahmed to keep up his offensive production from Friday night against Centennial, where he scored 21 points, shooting 60% from beyond three-point range, when the team plays host to the Seneca Sting for the first home game of the year. The Huskies split the series with the Sting in 2018/19 with both teams winning on the road. This will be the first meeting between the two this season. The Sting are coming off an 84-71 win over UTM and currently sit 1-0 the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 8PM.

 


Volleyball welcomes La Cite and Algonquin for a busy weekend of home games

The Men's and Women's volleyball teams are coming off a successful weekend against the Seneca Sting. The Women's team took it 3-1 while the Men's team swept the match 3-0. They will now look to the weekend as they face La Cite and Algonquin in the home openers.

The Huskies Women will first meet La Cite Coyotes on Saturday. Last season the teams split their two meetings, both taking advantage of home court with wins in their respective gyms. The Coyotes are coming off a 3-0 loss to Durham and currently sit 0-1 on the season. The team will then take on the Algonquin Thunder on Sunday where both also split the season series, each winning at home. The Thunder also sit 0-1 on the season with 3-1 loss to Durham. Both matches are scheduled for 1PM starts.

The Men's team hope to continue their strong showing to start the season led by veteran rightside Vivek Mathimakki (11 kills, 1 block, and .381 hitting percentage vs SEN) and rookie setter Grayson Engelman (21 assists, 2 kills vs SEN)

The Huskies will first meet La Cite Coyotes on Saturday. Last season the Coyotes took the season series between the two teams and the Huskies will hope to change that this Saturday. The Coyotes are coming off a 3-0 loss to Durham and currently sit 0-1 on the season.

The Huskies then take on the Algonquin Thunder on Sunday. The team will look to do what they did last year against the Thunder, winning both meetings between the two sides. The Thunder are coming off a 3-0 loss to Durham as well and also sit 0-1 on the season. Both games are scheduled for 3PM starts.

 


Cross Country heading to Windsor for OCAA Provincial Championships

Game Info: George Brown at St. Clair College
Date: Saturday, October 26th
Time: 11AM and 12PM
Location: St. Clair

The Cross Country team travels south to Windsor to compete in the OCAA Provincial Championships this weekend at St. Clair College.

The team will push for competitive races from its Men's team of Shirwa Elmi, Joseph Zaleski, Andrew Wahome and Arsalan Khan, alongside its Women's competitors Milana Saplavska and veteran Angelee Weathers. Women's race will start at 11AM followed by the Men's race at 12PM.
