WOMEN'S SOCCER

Last Year

The Huskies finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 2-4 regular season record, earning them a playoff birth. They broke through in the post-season, winning their first ever crossover match since rejoining the league in 2013 by a score of 2-1 over the Centennial Colts. Matching up then with the CCAA ranked No. 11 Fanshawe Falcons in the quarterfinals, the Huskies battled to the very end but fell short 1-0 in extra time, ending the program's historic season.

Looking Ahead

The 2022-23 season has the Huskies poised to make another run, possibly even deeper into the playoffs. Anchored by top recruit Victoria Broomer in goal, the team will rely heavily on her to bring her tremendous shot-stopping ability to the OCAA stage. Broomer joins the Huskies from Pickering FC of League 1, previously playing for U16 Ajax CSL and Whitby's U17 OPDL team.

Broomer will be well supported by a trio of experienced veterans in Cynthia Pellegrino (5th Year), Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin (4th Year), and former CCAA National Champion (Humber Hawks) Nicole Carvalho (5th Year), plus the addition of first year walk-on Anges Yung who has proven herself already to be a strong and reliable player in control of the mid-field through pre-season play.

The Huskies travel to Belleville to battle the Loyalist Lancers in their season opener on Sept. 9th, followed by the home opener on Sunday Sept. 11th at 1pm at Esther Shiner Stadium vs the Durham Lords.

MEN'S SOCCER

Last Year

Huskies Men's Soccer made history for the program, qualifying for the CCAA National Championship for the first time in the program's 50 plus years after finishing the season with a 2-4 regular season record. They roared their way through the playoffs, earning a wildcard birth to the national tournament. The squad battled their way to a T-5th place finish, dropping a close 2-1 decision to the Nomades de Montmorency in the bronze semifinals.

Looking Ahead

2022-23 will see the return of many veterans, including former second-team all-star Jason Alvarado (3rd Year), all-rookie team selection Jo-Horus Toutou (4th Year), Alon Steinbach (2nd Year), Mark-Luis DoCoito (2nd Year), and standout striker Yonis Jama (3rd Year). This strong core of returners is eager to pick up where they left off and make a run for a return trip to the CCAA national stage.

The Huskies open their season this Sunday Sept. 11th at Esther Shiner Stadium when they will take on the Durham Lords. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.

MEN'S BASEBALL

Last Year

The Huskies experienced one of the best baseball seasons in program history in 2021. Their appearance in the quarter-final game of the OCAA Championship marked the first time the program qualified for the playoffs since the OCAA inaugurated baseball in 2013. They put up a great fight against the two-time defending OCAA champion Humber Hawks, but dropped a 13-8 decision.

Looking Ahead

Following the resignation of head coach AJ Wideman in the off-season, George Brown named Josh Appel to take over the budding program. With a resume that included Player Development with the Toronto Blue Jays, being a two-time OUA Champion pitching coach for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, and head coach of the North Toronto 16U Elite Baseball, Appel had his sights set on coming into the 2022-23 season with a bang.

With a huge recruiting class consisting of over a dozen players, mostly US-transfer student-athletes, this team has as deep a pitching core as it has ever had and is ready to make waves this season. They will open up the 2022 campaign against the defending OCAA-champion St. Clair Saints on the road on Sept. 10th. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm.
