Huskies Ace Zeng lunges for birdie

In the second invitational event of the 2019-20 badminton season, the Huskies continue to display strong performances, taking home three medals on the day.

Anh Hoang started off the day rolling through the opposition, winning each set in her first three Women's Singles matches by an average of 16.5 points per set. The two-time national medal winner was victorious in her semi-final, beating Susanna Quach (Humber College) by a score of 14-21, 21-18, 21-14, and finally captured gold over Victoria Duong (Humber College) in a back and forth final (23-21, 17-21, 21-15).

In Mixed Doubles play, veteran power duo Yuge (Ace) Zeng and Anh Hoang dominated the field, not losing a game until the championship match. In the final, Zeng and Hoang would face Conestoga's Satheesh/Betts pairing. After losing the first game 18-21, the Huskies would bounced back from a 6-11 deficit in the second game to take the next two 21-17 and 21-13 and capture gold.

On the Men's Singles side of the bracket, Yuge (Ace) Zeng went the distance for the Huskies but came up just shy in the final. Zeng closed out the competition with a silver medal, falling to Conestoga College's Pranav Satheesh 8-21, 14-21 in the final.

George Brown would also see some solid play from Nanako Okawa who finished in second place of the Women's Singles consolation bracket, and a Men's Doubles quarter finals appearance from Zeng and Yang Jin (18-21, 18-21 vs Conestoga).
