HUSKIES CAN’T HOLD ON AGAINST FANSHAWE

Huskies baseball player leading off first base

Backed by another strong outing from top pitcher David DeCassan, going five innings with two strikeouts allowing only four hits, George Brown could not get enough bat to the ball to help secure the win. With four total hits on the night, shortstop Mitchell Triolo recorded the Huskies' only extra-bases hit with a double in the 5th inning.

Fanshawe broke the game open in the bottom of the 6th taking a 5-1 league behind doubles from Braden Halford and Derek Smith, an inning the Huskies were unable to recover from.

Head coach AJ Wideman comments, "Sunday was another tough loss. Again we found ourselves late in the ball game with a lead and couldn't quite hold on. After two crucial errors, we found ourselves in a hole too big to dig out of. We need to take the positive from this. We're right there, just need to close it out."

With five games in the upcoming seven days, the Huskies need to make a real push as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive in a tight OCAA rankings race.
