After being shutout in the first game against the Centennial Colts, the offence made sure they made an impact in the second game to help the Huskies go 1-1 on Wednesday (Sept. 20) night.
Game 1: Centennial 9, George Brown 0
The Huskies offence was held in check as they only recorded two hits in the loss.
Starting pitch Nathan Long picked up his first loss of the season. The second-year allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings of work.
Game 2: Centennial 3, George Brown 10
The second game was a back-and-forth affair between the two teams, with the score tied at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth. That's when the Huskies bats came alive.
After scoring a run on an error to take a one-score lead, both first-year outfielder Marcus Herback and first-year third baseman Tom Edward Gireau hit doubles to bring in a combined five runs. Third-year outfielder Kyle Bandura drove in Gireau later that inning to make it a seven-run inning for George Brown.
Starting pitcher Finlay Butler was dangerous once again on the mound. The second-year allowed only three runs on six hits and five walks while strikeout a career-high nine batters in 5 2/3 innings of work.
First-year reliever Emilio Germann-Cisterna recorded his first career OCAA win, only allowing a walk and posting three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.
UP NEXT: The Huskies are back on the road to battle the Sheridan Bruins on Friday (Sept. 22) night. The games are scheduled for 5pm and 7pm.
