HUSKIES ADVANCE TO OCAA PROVINCIAL SEMI-FINALS

The Huskies are off to the OCAA Provincial semi-finals. Christian Tabiri scored all 19 of his points in the second half to help George Brown beat Lambton College 82-65 in the quarter-finals on Friday night.

Notable Stats: Second-year forward Tabiri recorded a game-high 19 points, six rebounds and two steals in the victory.

Veteran Kingslee D'Silva registered 14 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and a block, while rookie Naseem Barry filled the stat sheet with 13 points, six assists, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal on Friday night.

How it Happened: The Huskies had a tall task ahead of them in Sarnia, Ont. In front of a sold-out crowd, they got off to a sluggish start. The team went 13-of-39 from the field to dig themselves a 39-31 deficit to Lambton College at halftime.

The team that held the best record in the OCAA flexed their muscle out of the locker room. The offence and defence exploded in the frame as the Huskies outscored the Lions 34-8. George Brown rode the monstrous run the rest of the way to punch their ticket to the semi-finals.

First-year head coach Jason Dawkins believes the team coming together at the right time was the critical difference.

"Lambton came out prepared to play tonight. They had the crowd behind them, and we just had to hold the fort down in the first half. From there we came together as a team, played George Brown basketball and were able to slow them down in transition. That allowed us to run the game our way and do what we do best."

Up Next: George Brown will battle Redeemer College in the OCAA Provincial semi-finals on Saturday night with a spot in the final on the line. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm at Lambton College.
