HUSKIES WINNING STREAK ENDS AT 15

The George Brown Huskies men's basketball team had a weekend to forget. They dropped a pair of close road games, first a 75-72 decision to the St. Lawrence Vikings and then a 99-93 double-overtime loss to the Loyalist Lancers the next day.

The high-powered offence of the Huskies stalled numerous times during the weeknd's opening game. The team shot 24% from three-point land and 47.6% from the free-throw line. Despite that, George Brown fought back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to get within one possession with two minutes left. Unfortunately, they were unable to take the lead and suffered their first loss since the first game of the season (by default).

The veteran Kingslee D'Silva went 10-of-15 from the floor for a game-high 22 points, while adding six rebounds and two steals. Second-year forward Christian Tabiri chipped in with 14 points and three rebounds.

Second-year guard Chris Fields came off the bench to record 11 points, eight steals, and five assists.

The next day against Loyalist, George Brown got off to a slow start defensively. The Lancers shot over 50% to take a 46-36 lead into halftime. For the second straight day, the Huskies fought back in the fourth quarter this time from a seven-point deficit to force overtime.

Neither of the two sides were able to win in the first overtime, so a second was needed. The Lancers outscored the Huskies 13-7 in the frame to hand them their second straight loss.

D'Silva went off for a career-high 32 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks on Saturday. Robert Ocampo was the next top scorer with 16 points.

George Brown's record dropped to 15-3 after the weekend, which puts them in second in the East division.

Up Next: The Huskies have an opportunity to regain top spot in the division on Friday, February 14th against the top team in the East Seneca Sting. All the action starts at 8:00 pm.
