MEN’S BASKETBALL CHIP AWAY TO 91-70 VICTORY OVER EAGLES

Huskies Chris Fields makes a layup.

On Wednesday October 30th the George Brown Huskies headed west to take on league newcomers, the U of T Mississauga Eagles, in the two teams' first-ever meeting on the hardwood.

After building an early lead as large as seven points, the Eagles could not hang on to close the first quarter as the Huskies went on a 10-0 run over the last two minutes of the frame to pull ahead 20-16. A league that the visiting team would not relinquish for the rest of the match.

"Our team started the game off a little slow due to UTM being very prepared for us on their home opener." Said Head Coach Jason Dawkins after the game. "As the game settled down, our student-athletes who came off the bench gave us a spark and hit the court running with high energy, while playing as a team."

Notable bench contributions on the evening came from third-year transfer Caldre Campbell who showed impressive defensive ability in shutting down UTMs top players, and 2018-19 OCAA Defensive Player of the Year Chris Fields.

Fields shot a red-hot 70% from the floor tallying 19 points, including going 3-4 from beyond the arc. The speedy point guard also logged three steals and four assists in only 21 minutes of action.

A well balanced Huskies offense would at one time hold a game-high 27-point advantage, and would close out the game out with a final score of 91-70.

Up next, George Brown welcomes the Fleming Knights for a single header on Wednesday November 7th at 7pm at Casa Loma Campus Athletic Centre.
