HUSKIES EARN A SPOT IN NATIONAL FINAL

For the first time since 1976, the George Brown Huskies men's basketball team has advanced to the CCAA National Championship game. They clinched the victory by defeating the Mount Allison Mounties 80-76 in the semi-finals on Thursday night (Mar. 14).

HOW IT HAPPENED: Despite an early 19-13 lead by Mount Allison in the first 10 minutes, the Huskies rallied back in the second quarter, led by Christian Tabiri. With nine points from Tabiri, the team ended the first half with a 33-29 lead.

The second half was the Jeremiah Brown show. The fifth-year forward went 6-of-7 from the field for 14 points to help George Brown extend their lead to 59-51 with the fourth quarter left. His impeccable shooting continued in the fourth as he hit all four shots he took to hold off a late push from Mount Allison and punch the team's ticket to the gold medal game.

NOTABLE STATS: Brown was named player of the game after going 11-of-14 from the field for a game-high 27 points, along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Tabiri contributed 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while third-year forward Naseem Barry filled the stat sheet with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal.

UP NEXT: The Huskies have a chance to win the program's first National Championship in 49 years. They will face off against the Keyano Huskies in the final on Saturday, March 16 at 6:30 pm (EST).
