HUSKIES COME HOME WITH NATIONAL SILVER

The George Brown Huskies men's basketball team earned a National silver medal after dropping a 68-55 decision to the Keyano Huskies at the CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship on Saturday (Mar. 16) night.

It marked the program's best result on the National stage since 1976.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies grabbed an early lead as fifth-year forward Jeremiah Brown connected on his first three shots, propelling the team to a 16-11 lead after the initial 10 minutes. However, Keyano quickly responded. With Evan Meyer leading the charge with 10 points, Keyano outscored George Brown 23-8 in the quarter, taking a 34-24 lead into halftime.

Although George Brown narrowed the gap to six points, 38-32, late in the third quarter, Keyano countered with a 9-0 run, maintaining a 49-40 lead heading into the final quarter. George Brown made a late surge, cutting the deficit to 59-52, but couldn't close the gap.

NOTABLE STATS: In his final collegiate game, Brown led the charge with a team-high 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Fourth-year guard Jevon Fray-Woobine tallied 13 points off the bench, while Tabiri chipped in with nine points, three blocks, two rounds, two assists and two steals in the loss.

During the Championship, Brown averaged 18 points, five rebounds, 2.3 assists, two steals, and a block, while Tabiri posted 13.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and a block. Both were named CCAA First Team All-Stars for their outstanding play.
