HUSKIES ROLL TO QUARTER-FINALS

The George Brown College men's basketball team bounced the Lambton Lions by a score of 91-77 at home on Saturday afternoon to advance to the OCAA quarter-finals for the fourth straight season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The opening 10 minutes was a track meet. Both sides displayed why their offences' are elite in the OCAA, and the score sat at 23-22 Huskies. The second quarter was more of a defensive one as neither team shot over 37% from the field, and because of that, the score was 43-40 at the half.

Early in the second half, the Huskies gave themselves breathing room, thanks in part to Christian Tabiri. The fourth-year recorded 10 points in the quarter and kickstarted a 21-9 to push the home side's lead to 70-55 late in the third. Lambton was not able to recover the rest of the way.

NOTABLE STATS: Fifth-year forward Jeremiah Brown was remarkable. He posted a team-high 24 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, while third-year forward Derrick Taylor was not too fair behind, dropping 21 points and 12 rebounds, five of which were offensive and one steal.

Third-year guard Jacob Masters filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, a game-high six assists and two steals in the victory.

UP NEXT: The Huskies continue their playoff journey on Saturday, February 24th, when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm at Casa Loma.
