HUSKIES FELL IN OVERTIME TO GEORGIAN

The men's basketball team's winning ends at eight games after dropping a 99-91 decision in overtime to the Georgian Grizzlies on Wednesday (Jan. 10) night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: This game had a playoff feel to it. Two of the top four teams in the East Division went at each other. Third-year forward Naseem Barry led the charge in the first two quarters, putting up 14 points, four rebounds and two steals to give the Huskies a 48-41 lead at the half. 

The game remained tight through the second half. In the fourth quarter, down 79-72 with under six minutes left, the Grizzlies went on a 9-2 run to take their first lead since the second quarter at 83-81 with 1:03 left. The Huskies responded. Barry collected the offensive rebound from a missed shot, and the play ended with third-year forward Nas Robert tying the game with 45 seconds left. Georgian had a chance to win it but missed the shot, which meant overtime was needed. 

The visitors took control of the game in the overtime frame. Emanuel Otong dropped eight of his game-high 43 points to help sweep the season series.

Notable Stats: 
Barry recorded 21 points, six rebounds, two steals, and a block, while fourth-year forward Derrick Taylor went 7-of-13 from the field for 21 points and grabbed six rebounds.

In his Huskies debut, fourth-year guard Phillip Da Silva filled the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, while fifth-year forward Jeremiah Brown registered 13 points, six rebounds, six assists and a steal on the night.

Fifth-year forward Darnell Richards contributed 15 points, four rebounds and two blocks off the bench. 

George Brown's record is now 9-2, while Georgian improves to 7-4 on the season.
