HUSKIES DROP CCAA QUARTER-FINAL MATCH

George Brown Huskies men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Douglas Royals in the quarter-finals in the CCAA National Championship on Wednesday night.

"I thought the guys played really well," head coach Johnny explained. "This game is about opportunity and in the first half could have been 2-0 for us, but we couldn't capitalize on our chances. We played well in the first half, and in the second half, Douglas College scored on their opportunities and our backs were against the walls from there."

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies dominated play in the first half, but could not find the back of the net. The team went into the half scoreless. In the second half, the Royals scored all three of their goals in the second half, as they blanked George Brown College 3-0 in their quarter-final game.

Douglas finally got on the board when Mohamednur Ibrahim scored in the 55th minute.

Nearly 20 minutes later, the Royals doubled their lead when Rozmehr Aghabaygy beat the Huskies keeper. Duncan Bates added Douglas College's third marker of the night in the 85th minute to close out the scoring.

"We'll get the guys back on track for tomorrow's match," coach Williams explained. "We still have an opportunity to make history and pick up a bronze medal. Our journey isn't over yet, we came here to win a medal."

Yonis Jama was named Player of the Game for the Huskies.

UP NEXT: The Huskies now head into the bronze medal bracket after the loss. They battle the SAIT Trojans in the quarter-finals of the bronze medal. All the action starts is 2:30 Eastern Standard Time.
