HUSSEIN EARNS CENTRAL DIVISION ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

In his first season with the George Brown Huskies, Abubakar Hussein did not look out of place. The league recognized his talent, naming him the Central Division Rookie of the Year.

The rookie made his name known in the OCAA from day one in one of the toughest divisions in the OCAA. Despite his impact not showing up on the score sheet, the defender played a significant role in the Huskies qualifying for the playoffs. He has the perfect mix of agility, quickness, toughest and IQ that made him play like a four-year veteran throughout the campaign.

The first-year defender started every match he played in throughout the season. Against teams like Seneca and Humber, Hussein made sure those teams knew they would have their hands full if they crossed his path.

Hussein became the first George Brown men’s player to receive a rookie of the year award since Filipe Vilela earned it in 2017.
