HUSKIES DROP CLOSE GAME TO STING

The George Brown Huskies men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the Seneca Sting (3-1-1) but fell 4-1 on Tuesday (Oct. 5th) at Esther Shiner Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The back-and-forth between these two rivals happened right from the opening minute. However, it was Seneca that struck first off the foot of Ariel Muanza-Kabongo in the 20th minute.

The Huskies responded later in the second half. Off a turnover in Seneca's offensive zone, Abubakar Hussein sent a cross into the middle of the box. Christopher Badibengi out-jumped everyone to header in the equalizer in the 37 minute. The score remained the same at 1-1 at the half.

The defensive gridlock continued in the second half. Both teams had chances but were not able to score. The Sting broke the tie in the 77 minute after Zac Zatoli found the back of the net. Seneca scored two more goals in the final minutes of the match to put it out of reach.

Second-year goalkeeper Felix Ofori made two save in the loss.

UP NEXT: The two will face off again in the season finale on Friday night at Esther Shiner Stadium. It all begins at 8:30 pm.

Before the final home game of the season, George Brown will honour its graduating student-athletes.
