HUSKIES FALL TO No. 2 HAWKS

The George Brown Huskies men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision against the No. 2 Humber Hawks (4-0) on the road Wednesday (Sept. 29) evening at Ontario Soccer Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED: One of the top offensive teams in the country got on the board quickly. Off a Hawks corner kick, Luca Gasparratto knocked in a rebound off the crossbar to hand the home team the early advantage.

The Huskies defence held firm afterwards because of second-year goalkeeper Felix Ofori. He made four saves to help the team go into halftime, only trailing 1-0. He ended the match with eight saves.

The score remained the same in the second half until the 67th minute. After Ofori made a sprawling save from a shot just outside the box, the rebound went right to Hawks striker Marcos Nunes, who made no mistake to double the lead.

The Hawks added another goal with just five minutes left off the foot of Karamvir Mehmi.

George Brown was able to break the clean sheet, though. As time was about to expire, third-year midfielder Anas El-Bogi found the back of the net off a blocked shot to pick up his third goal in his last two matches.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (1-2) will host a rematch with the Sault Cougars (0-3) on Saturday (Oct. 2) afternoon. All the action starts at 2:30 p.m. at Esther Shiner Stadium.
