MATHIMAKKI EARNED 2ND TEAM OCAA VOLLEYBALL ALL-STAR HONOURS

George Brown's outside hitter Vivek Mathimakki was named a second-team East Division All-Star for the second straight year at the volleyball awards banquet hosted by Fleming College on Wednesday night.

After an impressive rookie campaign, Mathimakki continued to grow in his second season. He set career-highs in points per set at 3.8 and hitting percentage at .211. The Computer Programmer Analytic student was a workhorse for the Huskies this season as he ranked seventh in total attacks with 454 and twelfth in total kills with 175. He was also just outside the top 10 in the province in kills per set (2.92), points per set (3.8) and total blocks (28) this season. He picked up his play in the second half of the season as he improved his points per set from 3.17 in 2019 to 4.38 in the new year.

The Huskies qualified for a fourth straight OCAA crossover playoff match this season but fell 3-1 to Niagara College on the road. George Brown went 9-9 during the regular season.
