HUSKIES DROP CROSSOVER PLAYOFF MATCH

The George Brown Huskies men's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 9-25, 17-25) to the Niagara Knights in the crossover playoff match on the road Saturday afternoon.

Notable Stats: Second-year outside hitter Vivek Mathimakki led the way for the Huskies with a team-high 11 points on 10 kills and an ace. First-year lef-side hitter Sam Delgado was the other Husky to hit double-digit with 10 points on 10 kills.

In his final game with George Brown, outside hitter Yuseph Jackman recorded seven points on six kills and an ace, while rookie setter Andrew Ebreo posted a team-high 26 assists in the match.

How It Happened: The first set was a back-and-forth affair with neither team leading by more than four points the entire time. At one point, the score was tied up at 23-23 and the Huskies were able to rally off two straight points to take the opening set 25-23.

The second set was very similar to the first. Both sides flexed their muscles, but George Brown was in the drivers seat up 24-20. Unfortunately, the Knights recorded six straight points to steal the second set 26-24.

The Huskies could not rebound afterwards as they dropped the third set 25-9 to trail for the first time in the match.

The home team kept their foot on the gas pedal as they jumped out to an early 13-5 advantage in the fourth set. The Huskies were unable to dig themselves out of the hole losing the set 25-17 and the match 3-1.
