TRIO OF HUSKIES EARN OCAA HONOURS

The women's basketball program continued their dominant play this season. Zae Sellers, Victoria Lawrence and Kayana Granger were all honoured for their magnificent seasons at the OCAA Women's Basketball Awards Banquet at St. Clair College on Thursday night.

In her second and final season with the Huskies, Zae Sellers was a dominant player and was instrumental in the team finishing second in the East Division with a 13-3 record. The veteran point guard was recognized for her standout season by being named an OCAA East Division first-team All-Star.

Sellers is the heart and soul of the George Brown Huskies. She was effective on both ends of the floor but most importantly was a true leader for the squad. She set career-highs with 19.3 points and 4.7 assists, which ranked in the top four in the OCAA. She is also one of the most accurate shooters in the province ranking third in threes made (45), tenth in three-point percentage (34.4%) and fourth in free-throw percentage (81.1%). Her drive on the defensive side of the ball was evident for the Huskies, who forced the second-most turnovers in Ontario.

Victoria Lawrence has been nothing short of stellar since she transferred from Algonquin College. She affected games in all facets on the offensive and defensive ends. Her stellar play allowed her to earn an OCAA East Division second-team All-Star spot.

Lawrence averaged a career-high 16.9 points, nine rebounds and four steals per game. She is only one of two players to be ranked in the top 10 in all three of those categories provincially. If that does not scream game-changer then nothing does. The second-year forward recorded a double-double in eight games this season, while registering more than three steals 11 times.

In her rookie season with the Huskies, Kayana Granger made an impact in various ways. Thanks to her impressive play, the guard/forward was named to the East Division All-Rookie Team. Granger's athleticism, work ethic and basketball IQ were a perfect fit for the Huskies system this season. She recorded 6.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 steals, while shooting over 44% from the field in her rookie campaign.

Granger displayed her potential in the second last game of the regular season, when she recorded a career-high 20 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists in a victory over Seneca. She continues to get better with every passing day.
