WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WELCOMES SHAH

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WELCOMES SHAH

The George Brown Huskies women's basketball team is excited to announce the commitment of Alayna Shah ahead of the 2024-25 season.

“I am also extremely grateful for the opportunity to be able to play basketball at the college level, and am thrilled to be able to take advantage of this opportunity,” Shah said. “I am also really interested in early childhood education and want to be a teacher when I am older.”

The 5'6" guard currently plays for the YNBA Avengers JUEL and was with the East York Eagles in OBA Division 1 in the 2022-2023 season. She was crucial in securing the league championship during her tenure with the Eagles.

The Toronto, Ont., native will be enrolled in the Early Childhood education program.

“I hope I can grow and develop my experience when it comes to basketball and my program, so I can make the most of my time at George Brown and carry the knowledge I have gained here forward in all aspects of my life,” she explained.

This past season, the team posted an 8-6 record and finished third in the East Division. They went on to host and win a playoff game for the first time since 2020.
