WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS ATHLETIC PRENDERGAST

Huskies women's basketball just gained a dynamite athlete in small forward, Jordane Prendergast.

The 5'8 guard/forward combo comes to the Huskies as a hustle player from Excel Hoops Prep (Brampton) of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association, OSBA, with a distinguished resume as both a track athlete and a basketball player. 'Frenchie' – a nickname earned from living in Paris, France for a chunk of her life – has represented Canada at the NBA Junior Global Championships where she averaged two steals per game on route to a silver medal finish. Prendergast is also a ROPSSA (Region of Peel Secondary School Athletics) track and field medalist in the 100m hurdles.

"I like the campus, I know the coaches, I feel welcomed," said Prendergast. "This doesn't feel like something I have to do. I feel like I'm going to have fun. Basketball is my love and it just feels like a home here."

"Frenchie is going to help bring back our Husky chaos on the defensive end," said an excited Omari Wiltshire, head coach of the women's basketball team. "I anticipate she will paint the floor with footsteps on defense and be great in our transition game."

Prendergast will be enrolled in the Theatre Arts Performance Program.
