The George Brown Huskies women’s basketball team is excited to announce the addition of Emmanuela Nwokorie ahead of the 2025–26 season.
“I was delighted and proud. I'm thrilled to represent the Huskies, and all the effort and commitment paid off. I'm thankful to be part of such a fantastic team and this incredible opportunity,” she said.
The 5’7" guard/forward played the past few seasons for Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School. She earned several awards during her time there, including Female Athlete of the Year (2024), Female Coaches' Awards (2023 and 2024), and Female Basketball MVP (2024). She also played for the Inter City Saints program outside of school.
It didn’t take long for Head Coach Ian Morse to see how well she would fit into the team.
“I was immediately impressed with the passion and intensity that Emmanuela plays with. Her competitiveness and work ethic will be a great fit with the culture of our team. She’s joining a roster full of veteran players, which gives her a great opportunity to learn and improve her game,” Morse explained.
A major factor in her decision to join George Brown College was its strong reputation, both academically and athletically.
“George Brown College's outstanding academic reputation and the encouraging atmosphere in the athletic department are the main reasons I decided to commit here. I immediately felt at home with the coaching staff and knew I would be able to develop both academically and athletically,” she explained.
Morse believes Nwokorie has the skill set to make an impact in the OCAA.
“Emmanuela doesn't back down from a challenge, and given her skill set, ability to defend, score, and compete at a high level, she fits in perfectly with our team. We're looking forward to her development over the course of the year,” Morse said.
Nwokorie will be enrolled in the Child and Youth Care program and is ready to push herself in the next stage of her life.
“My goals on the court are to help the team win and keep improving as a player. I want to stay focused in class, maintain good grades, and work toward my long-term professional goals. My priorities are growth and balance,” Nwokorie said.
