HUSKIES UNABLE TO QUALIFY FOR FINAL FOUR AT PROVINICALS

The George Brown Huskies women's indoor soccer team could not advance to the semifinals at the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

For the fourth straight season, the Huskies qualified for the OCAA Championships. They were looking to advance to the Final Four for the first time since the program joined the OCAA in 2013.

After dropping a 6-0 decision to the Seneca Sting to begin their round-robin play, they duelled the Conestoga Condors. Second-year forward Makayla Cabral opened the scoring to hand the Huskies an early one to nothing advantage. However, the Condors responded quickly, scoring three unanswered goals to put the match out of reach. Cabral recorded her second goal of the match in a losing effort. The Huskies wrapped up their day with a 6-0 defeat to the Humber Hawks.

Head coach Leslie Fitzpatrick was proud of his team's effort today.

"It was tough how the season ended for us. At the start of the season, we set goals to make it to Provincials," he explained. "Regionals pretty good for us, ultimately we got here and had some bad luck with injuries to some players. We weren't at 100%, but they still battled and tried their best to implement the system to get success, but it didn't work out for us this year."
