HUSKIES BOOK TICKET TO PROVINCIALS

On Wednesday afternoon, the George Brown Huskies women's indoor soccer team booked their ticket to the OCAA Provincial Championships after going 1-0-2 (W-L-D) in Regionals at Redeemer College.

Match 1
The Huskies opened their tournament against the Sheridan Bruins. They generated numerous opportunities in the opening five minutes but couldn't find the back of the net. The opening goal didn't happen until the first half's final minute. Gabi Dais' free-kick deflected off a Bruins defender to break the stalemate heading into the half. The score remained the same until the last minutes of the match as the Bruins scored on a penalty kick to make the final score 1-1.

Match 2
In the second match against the Sault Cougars, the offence was on full display. Jennifer Seguin and Angela Diaz Romero both scored in the opening five minutes of the match to give the Huskies the early lead. Seguin added another one in the opening half as they led 3-0 at the half. George Brown continued their dominance afterwards as Dias, Makayla Cabral, and Elisabeth Virelli all got on the score sheet. The final score of the match was 6-1.

Match 3
All the Huskies needed to ensure a spot at Provincials was to draw or win against the top-seeded St. Clair Saints. Both teams had a defensive mindset, which led to a 0-0 draw.

Second-year goalkeeper Sydney Crowe only allowed two goals throughout the tournament, while Seguin and Dias led Huskies with two goals apiece on the day.

UP NEXT: The team finished second in their pool and are off to the OCAA Provincial Championships. George Brown College will host the championships between March 30th-31st.
