HUSKIES FALL TO PANTHERS

The George Brown Huskies women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 13-25, 18-25) decision to the Canadore Panthers at the St. James Athletic Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Notable Stats: Second-year middle blocker Beatriz Vilches led the way for the Huskies with seven points on six kills and a block. First-year middle blocker Victoria Pitters recorded six points off four kills, a block and an ace in the match.

How It Happened: In the opening set, the Panthers jumped out to an early 14-7 lead and did not look back taking the set 25-15.

Canadore continued to ride the momentum recording 11 of the first 12 points in the second set and went on to win it 25-13.

For the third straight set, the Panthers got off to an early lead this time up 12-6. The Huskies fought back though, generating a 5-2 run to get within three points, but that was as close as they got falling 25-18.

George Brown's record drops to 9-7 on the season. They currently hold the fifth spot in the East division.

Up Next: The Huskies still have a chance to climb the standings with two matches this week. In order to do so, they need to defeat the Georgian Grizzlies (11-5, 4th in East) on the road Wednesday night. First serve is at 6:00 PM.
