HUSKIES BEGIN THE NEW YEAR WITH SHUTOUT VICTORY

The George Brown Huskies women's volleyball team began the year on a high note with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-12) shutout victory over the Fleming Knights on Saturday afternoon at St James Athletic Centre.

How It Happened: The Huskies did not look rusty in the opening set of 2020. In front of a packed crowd, they jumped out to the 17-9 lead and did not look back taking the set 25-21.

The second set was the complete opposite. Both sides displayed their offensive abilities and the score reflected it at 19-19. The Huskies though recorded six of the next nine points to capture the set 25-22.

George Brown took over in the eventual final set. After Fleming made it 7-6, the Huskies generated a 16-3 run and went on to win the set 25-21.

George Brown's record improved to 6-4 on the season, which is good enough for 5th in the East division. The Knights remain winless on the season dropping to 0-10.

Up Next: The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday night, January 15, when they travel to Durham to duel the Lords. First serve is set for 6 pm.
