HUSKIES SHUTOUT LOYALIST

The George Brown Huskies women's volleyball team shutout the Loyalist Lancers 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) to pick up their seventh victory of the season at St James Athletic Centre on Saturday.

Notable Stats: Second-year left-side hitter Ashley Lau had a career match putting up a career-high 18 points off 13 kills and five aces. Beatriz Vilches chipped in with nine points on four kills, four aces and a block in the match.

Newcomer Megi Memcaj added six points on five kills and an ace while recording a game-high nine digs in the victory.  

The Lancers were led by Aingele Campbell-Stewart, who registered a team-high seven points off six kills and an ace.

How It Happened: In the opening set, the Huskies jumped out the early 9-3 lead, but the Lancers battled back to only trail 21-20. Thanks to a couple of key kills from Lau and Memcaj down the stretch, George Brown took the set 25-22.

The close match continued in the second set with the score at 15-14. The Huskies then exploded winning 10 of the next 12 points to capture the set 25-16.

The Huskies served the lights out at the beginning of the third set, recording five aces to take an early 8-2 lead. They used that to go on a take the set 25-17 and picked up their third win in their last four matches.
