HUSKIES RALLY BACK TO DOMINATE LANCERS

HUSKIES RALLY BACK TO DOMINATE LANCERS

After a slow start and down to the wire first set against the Loyalist Lancers, George Brown Women's Volleyball stormed back to take the game completely under control through the next three.

Loyalist came out of the gates competitive, winning the first set 26-24 after a series of late back and forth rallies. However the Huskies would not let that phase them, as they proceeded to blow through set two by a score of 25-5 and never looked back. "After a slow start we were able to get a dominating 3-1 win over the Lancers. We lost the first set but quickly adjusted to the tempo of play, finishing the last three sets of the match allowing only 24 points against total." Commented Head Coach Daphne Choi on her team's start to the game.

"Once we found our stride we were communicating well and willing to save every ball and turn it into an attack. Our player of the game was Angie [Angelique Agustin], who contributed most strongly in serve-receive and digs. Ahead of our Durham game, we are excited to continue being aggressive."

The Huskies once again saw strong outings from Ashley Lau, who finished the game with four service aces, 10 kills on 20 total attacks and only one error, and Alina Karpovnikova with 13 kills on 24 total attacks and 14 points. Jasmin Walia continues to be steady at the setter position, logging a game-high 28 assists to go alongside her five service aces on the match.

Up next, George Brown will face the undefeated Durham Lords who are currently ranked #2 in the OCAA with a record of 4-0 in the East Division. A win against the Lords would likely catapult the Huskies up the charts and into a provincially ranked position for the first time in the program's history.

Scheduled start time is 1PM on Saturday November 9th as part of the Huskies annual Super Game Day at St. James Campus Athletic Centre. Women's and Men's Volleyball games are scheduled for 1PM and 3PM starts, followed by Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball at 6PM and 8PM, respectively.
