The George Brown Huskies women's volleyball team will host their first playoff match since the program was inaugurated in 2006-2007. The Huskies shutout the Seneca Sting 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-15) on Friday night at St. James Athletic Centre to make it possible.
Notable Stats: Second-year left-side hitter Ashley Lau posted a game-high 16 points on nine kills and seven aces, while also registering a game-high 13 digs in the match. First-year outside hitter Megi Memcaj chipped in with 14 points off 13 kills and an ace.
Third-year setter Jasmin Walia orchestrated the high-powered offence with a game-high 32 assists in the season finale.
The team finished the season with a program-best 11-7 record, which puts them in fourth place in the East division.
Up Next: The Huskies will host the Mohawk Mountaineers (11-7, 5th in West) on Saturday, February 22nd in the first round of the playoffs. All the action begins at 2:00pm at St. James Athletic Centre.

#5 Jessica Barrios is a 3rd-year right-side hitter from Toronto, Ontario who has appeared in 35 matches over her career with the Huskies. She is a versatile player that will do anything to help the team.
A perfect example is her willingness to switch positions to libero in numerous matches this season. Jessica has also recorded double-digit points in four matches this season. She will be graduating from the Early Childhood Education program.
#8 Alina Karpovnikova is in her second season with the Huskies. The middle blocker from Almaty, Kazakhstan has logged 28 matches for George Brown and is currently experiencing a career season. She is near the top of the team with 1.96 kills per set and 2.4 points per set. Alina will be graduating from the Human Resources program.
#10 Carolina Parreno is a 1st-year left side hitter from Ecuador who has logged seven matches in her rookie season. She will be graduating from the Sport and Event Marketing Program.
#14 Crystal Nguyen is in her first season with the Huskies. The right-side hitter and middle blocker has appeared in 12 matches for George Brown this season. She will be graduating from the Dental Assistance Program.
