The George Brown Huskies women's volleyball team (8-3) lost in three straight sets (25-20, 25-11, 25-16) to division rivals the Canadore Panthers (9-2) on Saturday (Jan 14) in North Bay, Ontario.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies entered the game after a thrilling five set victory (3-2) over the Seneca Sting on January 11 while the Panthers entered the match after defeating the Georgian Grizzlies 3-1 also on January 11.
In the opening set the Huskies showed a lot of fight but would spend most of set battling from behind. The Panthers would prove to be too strong for the Huskies taking the 1st set 25-20. The second and third sets proved to be a challenge for the Huskies as they spent the majority of both sets trailing from behind. The Huskies would drop both sets 25-11 and 25-16.
Huskies rookie setter and OCAA assists per set leader, Brianne Lee "knew going into this week we just had to keep to our side and play our game in order to win." She continued, "we tried but things fell short, and we couldn't win this one. But we're going to use this game to learn and understand we need to focus on for next games."
