Women’s volleyball outside hitter Jaque Ronquillo and men’s basketball guard Teshayn Gayle have been named Huskies athletes of the week for the period ending November 28th.
Jaque Ronquillo was the most consistent offensive threat for the Huskies and helped the team earn a third-place finish at the Adidas Cup. She averaged a team-high 10.5 kills and an outstanding .525 hitting percentage in the four matches at Durham College.
The outside hitter’s most impressive performance came against the Conestoga Condors in the third-place match. She posted a game-high 19 kills, a block and an ace for 21 points in a four-set victory to wrap up their tournament.
On the court, Teshayn Gayle was a force that could not be stopped in an exhibition game against the Redeemer Royals at home one Saturday afternoon.
The fifth-year guard went 12-of-29 from the field, including three-of-five from deep for a team-high 32 points. He also added six rebounds and two assists in a losing effort.
