Women’s soccer midfielder Jennifer Seguin and men's soccer defender Mark-Luis Do Coito have been named Huskies athletes of the week for the period ending October 3rd.
It's the second week in a row that the first-year midfielder has earned this award. She had an outstanding performance this past week. After generating most of the offence in a defeat against the No. 2 Humber Hawks, Seguin displayed one of the best individual performances in the OCAA. She recorded a hat-trick in the opening 23 minutes of the match to help the Huskies beat the Sault Cougars 4-0 and secure a much-needed victory. Thanks to the win, George Brown went on to clinch a spot in the OCAA playoffs the next day, after Humber took down Sault on Sunday.
Do Coito played a vital role for the Huskies in various ways last week. He recorded two goals and two assists in two matches and ultimately helped secure an OCAA playoff spot for the Huskies.
On Wednesday night against No.14 Humber, the first-year defender assisted on the team’s lone goal in a 3-1 defeat. Later in the week, in a game against the Sault Cougars the defender registered two goals and made a great pass to set up another marker in a 6-0 victory. He played the most critical position on the field throughout the entire match at centre defender and helped the team put up a clean sheet for the first time this season.
