The baseball team is coming off a solid weekend as they hosted a doubleheader against the Centennial Colts in their season opener. The team finished with a 1-1 record, dropping a close 3-2 contest but then battling back from a four-run deficit to take the second game 12-10.

The Huskies will take the Lambton Lions on Saturday (Sept. 25). The Lions come in looking to rebound from a tough doubleheader with the Humber Hawks. They were outscored 25 to 6 in the two games. The first pitch of the first game is at 5:30pm, while the second one follows up at 8pm.

The Huskies will then welcome the St.Clair Saints to Lisgar Field on Sunday, September 26th, to wrap up their weekend. The Saints won their first two games of the season against the Fanshawe Falcons. Similar to George Brown, it will be St. Clair's second doubleheader of the weekend. First pitch is at 1pm.

Soccer looks to rebound up north

Game Info: George Brown @ Sault College
Date: Saturday, October 12th
Time: 11AM and 1PM

The soccer teams are coming off season openers; they want to move past quickly. So the teams head up north to battle the Sault Cougars on Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon.

The women's team was shorthanded in their loss to the Humber Hawks because of injury. They will look to get back on track against a Cougars squad that fell 9-0 in the season opener to the Seneca Sting.

On the men's side, they played well against the Hawks in the opening half. The problem was they could not score on any of their chances, which left the door open for Humber to walk away with it. The Huskies only have five returning players from the last outdoor team assembled in 2019, so it will take time for them to jell. However, this is a perfect opportunity for them as the Cougars were shut out 14-0 against the Seneca Sting.

Players to Watch

#9 Yonis Jama (Men's Soccer)
The first-year striker had numerous opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net. He led the teams in shots on goal in the match. Standing at 6'3, Jama was a handful for the Hawks to contain at times and was able to generate offence for the Huskies when he did not have the ball.

#5 Kristina Anderson (Women's Soccer)
The second-year midfielder is the definition of an all-around player. She defenders very well and can score with the best of them. In her first year in 2019, she recorded three goals in eight matches but impacted the game in various ways that are not seen on the stat sheet. So keep an eye on her on Saturday.
