Both the Huskies teams are riding a high heading into the final week of the regular season. The men's and women's teams are coming off shutout victories over the Sault Cougars and clinched a playoff spot on Sunday.

Jennifer Seguin displayed one of the best individual performances in the OCAA last Saturday. She recorded a hat-trick in the opening 23 minutes of the match to help the Huskies beat the Sault Cougars 4-0 and secure a much-needed victory. After Humber took down Sault on Sunday, George Brown (2-2) clinched a spot in the OCAA playoffs.

They wrap up their season, taking on the No. 5 team in the country in the Seneca Sting (4-0) in back-to-back games. The Huskies will have their hands full as the Sting have scored 24 goals while only allowing two in four games this season.

On the other hand, the men (2-2) have to face the same opponent twice in Seneca (2-1-1), and they clinched a playoff berth on Sunday. They still have a chance to host a home playoff game if they beat the Sting in both meetings.

The team has gotten better throughout the season. They went toe-to-toe last week against one of the best teams in the country in Humber and took down Sault 6-0 a few days later. The defence has been a strong point, only allowed four goals in the last three games. The trend will have to continue this week to beat Seneca and possibly host a playoff game.

The Huskies will honour all the graduating student-athletes prior to each game in the final home game of the season on Friday.

Players to Watch

#7 Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin (Women's Soccer)

The third-year player is the backbone of the defence. She has a ton of responsibilities and is one of the team's top players. If the Huskies plan on upsetting the Sting this week, Samuels-McLaughlin has to be one of the best players on the field.

#8 Mark-Luis Do Coito (Men's Soccer)

The first-year defender recorded two goals and two assists in two matches and ultimately helped secure an OCAA playoff spot for the Huskies. He's the anchor to the defence and has generated chances numerous times throughout the season.

Huskies battle Lords on the road

Game Info: George Brown @ Durham College
Date: Thursday, October 7th

Time: 6PM and 8:15PM
Live: https://bit.ly/3nyUXJp

The men's baseball team (1-6) has one doubleheader this week, and it's against the Durham Lords (4-5) on the road under the light on Thursday.

The Huskies have been in numerous close games but have not found ways to win. Two of their losses were games decided by two or fewer runs.

The team is still only a game back of the Centennial Colts for the final playoff spot in the East Division with two games in hand. However, to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in program history, they need to be able to finish off games when they have the lead.

The Lords are not the same juggernaut that many are accustomed to seeing. They are still one of the best teams in the league, but are a very young team and do not have many players back from their silver medal team in 2019.

Players to Watch

#24 Nathan Pruitt (Men's Baseball)

The first-year player was one of the most consistent hitters for the Huskies in the four games last week. While recording his first-career home run and four singles, Pruitt went 5-for-11 at the plate with a .454 batting average. In addition, he scored three runs and knocked in two RBIs.
