Both the Huskies teams are coming off significant road victories over the Sault Cougars last weekend. They will have their hands full on Wednesday (Sept. 29) night in a rematch of their season opener against the Humber Hawks on the road, followed by another rematch against the Sault Cougars at home on Saturday (Oct. 2).

The women had a hard-fought victory over the Cougars. Thanks to Jennifer Seguin's fantastic strike and an outstanding individual effort by Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin, the Huskies came away with a 2-1 victory and have the momentum behind them. Heading on the road to battle the CCAA No. 14 Hawks (1-1), the Huskies need to build off their great play to contain them. The last time they squared off, George Brown fell 9-0.

They follow it up on Saturday afternoon against the Cougars (0-3), which will have huge playoff implications. George Brown is in a division with Humber, Sault and Seneca. The top three in this division advance to the playoffs. If the Huskies can beat the Cougars for the second time in seven days, they would put themselves in a great position heading into the season's final week.

The men are in a very similar situation when it comes to their playoff situation. They have the same teams in their division as the women. The two games this week will play a significant factor in it.

In the season opener against the CCAA No. 2 ranked Hawks (2-0), which they lost 6-0, the Huskies kept it close for most of the game but could not cash in on their chances to swing the momentum. That left the door open for Humber's offence to take over the match as the game progressed. This time around, George Brown must find the back of the net to challenge one of the top teams in Canada.

Up next is a rematch with the Cougars (0-3) exactly a week after the two squads faced off the first time. The Huskies were able to come away with a 4-1 victory and an important three points. With a win on Saturday afternoon, George Brown would be very close to clinching a playoff spot.

Players to Watch

#7 Anas El-Bogi (Men's Soccer)
He scored two of the team's four goals in a 4-1 victory over the Sault Cougars last Saturday. The midfielder was awarded Huskies and OCAA Athlete of the Week for his efforts. He will be relied on to add an offensive punch in the two key matches this week.

#10 Jennifer Seguin (Women's Soccer)
The first-year midfielder played excellent against the Sault Cougars last weekend. She recorded a goal in the 2-1 win and really pushed the pace throughout the match. For the women's team to continue its success this week, Seguin will have to be one of its best players.

The men's baseball team begins their first road trip of the season this weekend. It all starts off with a doubleheader on Friday night against the undefeated Humber Hawks (5-0). The Huskies pitching staff will be key in this matchup because the Hawks average a league-high 16.6 runs per game.

The next day, George Brown continues to head west, all the way to London to duel the Fanshawe Falcons (3-3). The Falcons are riding a high as they have won three straight games after dropping the first three to open the season.

The Huskies are in a dog fight for the playoffs right now. How it works is the top three teams from each division make the playoffs. In this case, George Brown, Seneca, Durham and Centennial are battling for those three spots. Right now, other than Seneca, George Brown is in a three-way tie with Durham and Centennial. So, every game is very important moving forward.

Player to Watch

#13 Brady Wagenhoffer
He was the most consistent Husky player in the doubleheader against the St. Clair Saints last Sunday. He went 3-for-5 in the two games with two doubles and accounted for the team's only run.
