The George Brown women's basketball team fell to the hands of the Humber Hawks in a do-or-die playoff crossover match up on Saturday (Feb 25) afternoon at Humber College in North York, ON.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies knew they would be in tough as the 8th seed going up against the #1 team in the OCAA in a playoff crossover match that would see the winner earn their spot in the OCAA Women's Basketball Provincial Championship hosted by Niagara College in Welland, ON from March 2-4, 2023.

George Brown came out composed and executed their game plan well throughout the first 10 minutes of play, with the Hawks holding only a 20-14 lead after one quarter thanks to a near-buzzer beating 3-point shot by Humber's Maezell Del Mundo to close out the period. First year guard Jordyn Dawkins was impactful on both ends of the court to start the game, tallying five points and four rebounds in the opening frame for the Huskies.

The Huskies kept the Hawks within striking distance going into halftime, down 42-29, again behind another strong quarter by Dawkins who scored another seven points and added three more rebounds. But that is as close as the game would come, with George Brown then going cold from the floor through the second half. The visitors only managed to connect on 22.5% of their field goal attempts across the last two quarters, and would fall by a final score of 86-44.

Dawkins finished the game with a near double-double, recording 12 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.
