George Brown men's basketball is pleased to announce the addition of recruit Willem De Heer for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
A 6'2" guard from Switzerland, De Heer has spent the past two season at Orangeville Prep Athlete Institute. The rangy guard averaged 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in 2018-19, and could slot in as a key contributor immediately in the Huskies back-court.
"Willem is an extremely hard worker, his motor is second to none," said first-year head coach Jason Dawkins. "As an international student he's a well-rounded young man, a character guy both on and off the court."
"I am very pleased to join George Brown because its truly amazing business studies appeal to me and are a perfect fit for my professional aspirations," said De Heer. "As a basketball player, I know that the GBC basketball team consistently plays a major role in the OCAA. The new coach wants to build a strong team spirit and I want to be part of that experience."
De Heer's acceptance to George Brown marks Dawkins first official recruit commitment since being appointed in the spring.
The Huskies men's basketball program is coming off a 17-3 regular season, and are a combined 54-6 over the past three regular seasons. In 2016-17 George Brown won a provincial silver medal and qualified for the national championship, as the program continues to solidify itself among the best not only in the notoriously tough OCAA but in Canada.
