2023-24 HUSKIES SCHEDULES RELEASED

2023-24 Huskies game schedule released

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) recently announced the 2023-24 regular season schedules for all sports. The George Brown Huskies will participate in Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Volleyball, and Badminton. Here is what is in store for the Huskies this year!

 

BASEBALL

The Huskies Men's Baseball team finished the 2022-23 season in 6th place with a record of 9-9, the most successful season in the program's history. With a strong recruiting class headlined by Noah Case, Emilio Cisterna-Germann, Tom Edwards-Gireau and Marcus Herback, George Brown will look to return for a third straight season to the OCAA provincial championships. SOCCER

The Huskies Men's Soccer team finished 3rd in the East Division with a record of 7-2-1 in the 2022-23 season. Averaging over 16 shots and 2.9 goals per game, the boys in blue will look to continue to dominate on the front lines, while also holding steady at the back behind returning East Division Defensive Player of the Year Mark Do Coito. For full season preview visit the OCAA Men's Soccer webpage, and for the Huskies' full season schedule visit our Men's Soccer Schedule page.

The Women's Soccer team ended the season in 6th place in the East Division with a 4-4-2 record, falling to the Niagara Knights on the road in the squad's playoff crossover game. The Huskies will rely on returning 5th year senior Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin and 2nd year defender Ruby Tureski, alongside exciting new recruits Megan Morgado (Niagara Knights), Annia Pavli (North Toronto Nitros) and former league all-star and George Brown female athlete of the year Jennifer Seguin who returns to the team after a year off. For full season preview visit the OCAA Women's Soccer webpage, and for the Huskies' full season schedule visit our Women's Soccer Schedule page.

 

VOLLEYBALL

The Huskies Men's Volleyball team will look to rebuild after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign. Competitive in all their matches, they just could not get around to the Ws the Huskies were hoping for. While head coach Sam Schachter continues his drive to the 2024 Paris Olympics in beach volleyball, interim head coach Luke Sim will be steering the ship. George Brown Women's Volleyball continued its rise through the OCAA ranks in 2022-23 where they finished tied for 3rd place with a 12-6 record. After falling to Niagara College in a come-from-behind 5-set thriller, the Huskies are ready and determined to not let history repeat. Behind returning OCAA All-Rookie team outside hitter Taylor Grant, standout setter Brianne Lee, recruits Asia Javaheri (Fanshawe College), Claire Ramos and Emily Rudzitis, and the return of sparkplug libero Yuna Miyake, the Huskies go confident into 2023. For full season preview visit the OCAA Women's Volleyball webpage, and for the Huskies' full season schedule visit our Women's Volleyball Schedule page.

 

BASKETBALL

After the third national championship appearance in school history and a 5th place finish, the George Brown Men's Basketball team is ready to roll once more in a quest for gold in 2023-24. The Huskies Women's Basketball team boasts a strong recruiting class in 2023-24 to build on its core returners from last season. Coming back to the Huskies lineup are OCAA second-team All Star Jordan Dawkins, and guards Ava Proskos and Danila Pereira. BADMINTON

Perenial powerhouse George Brown Badminton till look to retake the throne again in 2023-24. Coming off an OCAA mixed doubles gold medal and CCAA national championship silver medal, the Huskies are poised to keep up their strong play thanks to key returning athletes. Monique Lee (2nd Year, CCAA silver medalist) and Giselle Kochapanya (2nd Year) return for their second seasons, while former Husky and national championship medalist Amy Ding (3rd Year) makes a comback to the team after a few years off for another run at the gold.
