The George Brown Huskies picked up their first win of the season, defeating the Fleming Phoenix 56-46 on the road Friday (Nov. 7) night.
HOW IT HAPPENED: This game was a defensive slugfest between the two sides. George Brown's defence held Fleming to just 25% shooting from the field and just over 10% from three-point range. The Huskies' offence got out to a fast start before stalling a bit in the second half, but it was enough to secure the team's first win of the season.
NOTABLE STATS: Iffy Chiekwe led the way with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while adding four steals. All three of those stats were team highs.
Second-year guard Devonte Campbell posted 11 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, while first-year guard Chris Simunovic added 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
UP NEXT: The Huskies (1-2) look to continue their winning ways when they travel to King City, Ont., to face the Seneca Sting (1-2). All the action starts at 8pm.
