HUSKIES BRIANNA SAMUELS-MCLAUGHLIN, CYNTHIA PELLEGRINO NAMED OCAA ALL-STARS

George Brown women's soccer had a pair of OCAA all-stars named at Thursday nights awards banquet hosted by Seneca College.

Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin stormed onto the scene in her first OCAA season, establishing herself among Ontario's elite strikers early on. The Scarborough native led the team in scoring with four goals, including a game-winner against Conestoga and crucial finishes against Sheridan and Cambrian. When the sledding got toughest, Samuels-McLaughlin came through for a team that needed the punch up front.

The versatile midfielder/striker was also adept at setting teammates up and a big reason for George Brown's vast improvement on the offensive side of the ball.

Third-year Husky Cynthia Pellegrino was her usual steady self at the midfield position, providing veteran leadership for a young team. The Mississauga native was a critical player on both sides of the ball and among the biggest reasons for George Brown's vast improvement.

Pellegrino's consistent play and ability to control possession were huge assets for the Huskies all season, as she was a major part of the unsung glue that saw George Brown nearly qualify for the OCAA Championship.

The much-improved Huskies women's soccer program has a lot to look forward to after a promising 2018/9 season.
