WOMEN'S SOCCER SET TO VISIT NIAGARA WITH TRIP TO PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE

Matchup      George Brown @ Niagara
Date            Saturday, October 20
Time            1:30 pm
Location      Youngs Sportsplex

George Brown women's soccer will face off against the Niagara Knights on Saturday afternoon with a spot in the OCAA Championship on the line.

The women qualified for the crossover game via a fourth-place central division finish, and are among the most improved teams in the province under the guidance of first-year head coach Leslie Fitzpatrick. The Huskies have gotten better on both ends of the field, with newcomers Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin, Haley Kennedy and Kristin Lioktsis joining veterans like Nicole McKenzie, Francesca Girardo and Cynthia Pellegrino to form a nucleus with a nice mix of experience and youth.

Saturday afternoon will mark the first time since the program was re-introduced in 2013-14 that the women have qualified for the crossover game, meaning that a win would send them to the championship for the first time since. The programs turnaround began towards the end of last season when the women's indoor team won George Brown's own tournament and put together a solid performance at the provincial championship, and has continued to build since then.

A win will see George Brown play in a quarter-final matchup on Thursday, October 25 at Seneca College.
