OCAA CANCELS WINTER 2021 VARSITY SCHEDULE

OCAA

Due to ongoing public health and provincial sport organization restrictions, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has made the difficult decision to cancel all sanctioned varsity seasons and in-person collegiate recreation activities through the 2021 winter semester. For full press release visit www.ocaa.com.

While this is a very disappointing outcome, the health and safety of student-athletes and everyone involved in varsity and recreational sports is a top priority and the George Brown College Athletics & Recreation Department will continue to support our Huskies community during this challenging time.

Although there will be no sanctioned OCAA varsity competition or in-person OCR recreation activities this season, sport and fitness continue to be an integral part of the college experience for many.

Sport and physical activity have a powerful ability to build character and instill positive values in those that participate. Sport can also have an incredibly positive influence on a person's physical, emotional and mental health. As such, the Athletics Department is committed to providing alternative opportunities to remain engaged with the Huskies throughout the remainder of this academic year while continuing to coordinate with the OCAA in resuming varsity sports competition once conditions allow for it.

Until then, players, coaches and fans alike – we will remain united as a pack, find our Husky inner strength, and keep putting in the work towards the time when a safe return to sport is possible. #HuskyNation
