Thanks to a spark by Jeremiah Brown, the Huskies put together a late fourth comeback to beat the Centennial Colts 85-84 at home on Friday (Feb. 9) night. With the victory, George Brown finished second in the East Division.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The final game of the regular season had a playoff atmosphere to it. In the first three quarters, two of the top teams in the province shared blows and kept exchanging leads.
The game went up another gear in front of a packed house late in the fourth quarter. Down by four, midway through the frame, the Colts put together a 15-3 run to make the score 83-75 with just two minutes left.
That's when fifth-year guard Jeremiah Brown took over on his graduation night. He drained back-to-back clutch three-pointers, one of which was a four-point play, to get the team within one. From there, fourth-year forward Derrick Taylor hit three free throws, and George Brown didn't allow another basket the rest of the way.
NOTABLE STATS: Brown was all over the place. He posted a team-high 26 points, 14 rebounds, five of which were offensive, a block and a steal. His first double-double of the season could not have come better for the team.
Taylor filled up the stats with 14 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals, while fourth-year forward Christian Tabiri recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals in the victory.
George Brown finished the season with a 14-4 record, which puts them in second place in the East Division.

#7 Darnell Richards
Since joining the Men's Basketball program in 2021, Darnell has made significant contributions both on and off the court. With 32 games under his belt, he has maintained an average of 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Darnell's versatility as a stretch five, capable of scoring inside and outside, has been invaluable to the team. His infectious energy and positivity have uplifted those around him. Darnell will graduate from the Early Childhood Education program.
#15 Jeremiah Brown
Jeremiah has been a dynamic force off the bench since his arrival in 2022. Across two seasons and 35 games, he has maintained an impressive average of 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 assists per game, with a remarkable 53.9% shooting percentage from the field. His remarkable performance earned him the title of East Division Sixth Man of the Year and a place on the OCAA East Division Season Team all-star in 2023. Jeremiah played a crucial role in the Huskies' qualification for the CCAA National Championship for the second time in program history, plus was named a CCAA Championship All-Star. Jeremiah will graduate from the Electrical Techniques program.
