The George Brown Huskies men's soccer team fought extremely hard but dropped a close 2-1 decision to the Nomades de Montmorency in the bronze semifinals on Friday (Nov. 12th) afternoon. With the results, the team's historic season came to an end.

"The team played very well and followed the game plan throughout the match," head coach John Williams. "We didn't get the bounces today similar to throughout the week, but I'm very happy with our team."

HOW IT HAPPENED: Nomades striker Yassine Taitah opened up the scoring off a beautiful bicycle in the 15th minute. The score did not change heading into the half.

The Nomades added to their lead reasonably quickly after the bear. Once again, Taitah got behind the defence for the breakaway and made no mistake in the 47th minute.

Much like Thursday's last-minute heroics, which earned them a win over the SAIT Trojans in penalty kicks, the Huskies scored a goal in the 78th minute off the foot of Mark-Luis De Coito to make things interesting on Friday. They pushed for the equalizer but came up short.

First-year forward Christopher Badibenji was named Player of the Game for the Huskies.

"I'm incredibly proud of this group of young men. They didn't have the best hand dealt with them many times this season, but they kept fight and grinding," coach Williams explained. "They represented the program and school extremely well. This will hopefully set the tone of success for next season and years to come."
