HUSKIES SOCCER WELCOMES DO COITO

HUSKIES SOCCER WELCOMES DO COITO

The Huskies Men’s Soccer program is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Do Coito for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

“I decided to enroll at George Brown because they had the program I wanted to study in Architectural Technology and they have a really good soccer program, so that caught my eye right away,” Do Coito explained. “I also wanted to continue playing soccer at a high-level school.”

The midfielder has a ton of experience playing soccer in Canada and Portugal. At the age of 13, he joined the Peniche Community Club in Toronto. He was a top three scorer for the club, for all four years he was with the squad. It was no different when Do Coito played in high school at Michael Power – St. Joseph high school, in Etobicoke. He was the top goal scorer in grades 11 and 12, while also being awarded the MVP for both indoor and outdoor soccer teams.

“I am very pleased that Mark decided to join the Huskies. I believe Mark would be a starter at any college,” head coach Johnny Williams explained. “I expect Mark to offer us a good forward punch, and is capable of scoring a few goals for us this season.”

After he graduated high school, he competed in Portugal where he has been for the last few years. In his first season there, he dressed for the Caldas Sport Clube 2nd division, under 18 team. He ended the campaign as the top scorer with 19 goals and 12 assists.

“I hope for the next few years, we go as far as possible and win everything with hard work from the whole team,” he explained. “I also hope to meet new people who share the same passion for the sport. I also want to continue studying what I like, in order to give myself the best career pathway after I graduate.”

He is currently enrolled in the Architectural Technology program.

The Huskies open their 2021 season, when they host their rival the Humber Hawks on Friday, September 17th at Esther Shiner Stadium. The action begins at 8:30pm.
