HUSKIES ADVANCE TO FINAL FOUR

The George Brown Huskies are off to the Final Four at the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships after finishing first in their pool in round-robin play at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

The Huskies opened the day with a dominant 7-2 victory over the Sault Cougars. Six different players found the back of the net in the match, while first-year midfielder Ryan Husyni.

Their second match against their GTA rival Seneca Sting was a defensive showcase. Both teams' offence was kept quiet, but the Sting came away with a 1-0 victory.

This led to a key battle against Durham Lords in their final round-robin match. All the Huskies needed to do was beat the Lords, and they would book their ticket to the Final Four. George Brown controlled most of the ball in the first half, but went into the half tied at 0-0. It wasn't until first-year midfielder Mark-Luis Do Coito made a great run and an even better strike to break the deadlock. Second-year midfielder Steve Knezevic added another late to seal the deal for the Huskies.

Head coach John Williams is happy with the team's performances but knows they need to be better in certain areas tomorrow.

"I thought we played well today. The key was that the guys could bounce back after the match against Seneca," Williams explained. "We need to clean up defensively a bit and the guys need to be ready to work hard for a full 40 minutes if we want a chance at the gold medal."

UP NEXT: The Huskies will battle the Fanshawe Falcons in the semifinals with a spot in the gold medal match on the line. The match happens at 11:00am at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Whoever wins plays in the gold medal match at 2:30pm, while the defeated squad battles for the bronze medal at 1:00pm.
