The final Huskies Athletes of Week for the 2021-22 varsity season go to men's indoor soccer midfielder Steve Knezevic and women's indoor soccer forward Makayla Cabral after their play at the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships last week.
At the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships, Knezevic played exceptionally well. In the team’s three round-robin matches on day 1, the second-year midfielder controlled the pace of all three matches and posted two goals to help the Huskies go 2-0-1 (W-D-L) and place first in their pool to advance to the semifinals. After two very close semifinal and bronze medal matches, the team finished in fourth place. He was one of six players named an OCAA Men Championship All-Star for his outstanding play.
In the program’s fourth straight trip to the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships, Cabral was one of the Huskies most impressive players. She scored a team-high two goals, which came against the Conestoga Condors during round-robin play on Day 1. She was the most consistent offensive threat throughout round-robin play, generating numerous chances in the other matches against the Seneca Sting and Humber Hawks. The team, unfortunately, didn't advance to the semifinals.
